Calculation method and formula
square root(Horizontal pixels [px]² + Vertical pixels [px]²) ÷ Screen diagonal [Zoll]
Understand the inputs
- Horizontal pixels
- Unit: px. Minimum 1. Whole number.
- Vertical pixels
- Unit: px. Minimum 1. Whole number.
- Screen diagonal
- Unit: Zoll. Minimum 0.01. Use a measured value or your own assumption.
Assumptions and limitations
Measure the visible screen, not the casing. The diagonal uses Pythagoras; PPI means pixels per inch and is not by itself perceived image quality.
The formula uses the specified units. Displayed numbers are rounded; whole packs, item counts and full time periods may also be rounded within the calculation.
