Tip: 127.5 · Total: 977.5

A bill of 850 with a 15% tip gives 850 × 15 ÷ 100 = 127.50 in tips. The total is 977.50. With two people, each pays 977.50 ÷ 2 = 488.75. The figures use your bill’s currency, such as euros or Mexican pesos.

Frequently asked questions

How are the tip and each person’s share calculated?+

Tip = bill amount × percentage ÷ 100. Total = bill amount + tip. Share per person = total ÷ number of people. Enter 0% to split a bill without a tip; the number of people must be a positive whole number.

Does the tool handle taxes, currencies or different orders separately?+

No. The tool uses the bill amount exactly as entered, adds no separate taxes and performs no currency conversion. It divides the total equally. It does not prescribe a customary tip percentage for any country.

How accurate is the result?+

The formula uses the specified units. Displayed numbers are rounded; whole packs, item counts and full time periods may also be rounded within the calculation. Prices, measurements and model assumptions determine how well the result represents your situation.
